Amir & Eley has rapidly emerged as one of California’s
premier trial boutique firms. All of our partners were trained
at large, international law firms, then gained trial skills at
smaller boutiques, before joining together to form the present
firm. Since founding the firm in 2005, we have tried eleven cases
for our clients, achieving an undefeated trial record.
In May of 2008, for example, the firm handled
a wrongful termination/retaliation trial in Santa Clara Superior
Court on behalf of five defendants. The plaintiff’s final settlement offer on the eve of trial
was $2.5 million. DA&E tried the case to a jury, which, following
a 10-day trial, deliberated for a mere three hours before returning
a complete defense verdict in favor of our clients, dismissing
all claims and awarding the plaintiff nothing in damages.
A similar result happened in October of 2007, when we defended
the first of seven former professional athletes and high-net-worth
investors and two corporations being sued by a commercial lending
institution for breach of contract and fraud. After a week-long
trial in the United States District Court for the Central District
of California, followed again by only several hours of deliberation,
the jury dismissed all claims, prompting the lending institution
to settle with the remaining defendants on favorable terms.
In February of 2007, in a case filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court, where a contractor sued one of our clients - a major university - for racial discrimination and promissory estoppel in connection with millions of dollars in construction contracts, we first defeated the racial discrimination claim on summary judgment and then argued the remaining claim to the trial judge, again achieving a complete defense victory.
When a case can be resolved through dispositive
motion practice, DA&E has an exceptional record of doing so. When a case can
be settled on favorable terms, we make it happen. And when a
case has to be tried to a judge or jury – skillfully, economically,
and above all else, successfully – DA&E has never failed.
Our firm has been retained as lead counsel by over 200 clients
to handle cases in California as well as eight other states.
We establish a budget, stick to that budget, and deliver results.
We look forward to the opportunity to work with you on your next
case.
