Attorney Profile
Gregory Doll is a founding partner of Doll Amir & Eley. Since 1997, he has recovered and collected over $50 million for his clients as plaintiffs, while avoiding, on behalf of his clients as defendants, hundreds of millions of dollars of alleged damages. Mr. Doll has been instrumental in his firm’s achievement of an undefeated trial record in the numerous cases it has taken to trial since the firm’s inception in 2005. As lead trial counsel, he achieved complete defense verdicts in multiple high stakes federal and state jury trials in 2007, 2008 and 2009, including a full acquittal in a high-profile white-collar-criminal trial, solidifying the firm’s reputation as one of the premier trial boutiques in Southern California. Among his recent trial victories:

  • In October of 2007, Mr. Doll defended seven former professional athletes and high-net-worth investors sued by a commercial lending institution for breach of contract and fraud. After a week-long federal jury trial in the first of a series of related trials, the jury, after deliberating for several hours, returned a complete defense verdict in favor of Mr. Doll’s clients on all counts. The second in that series of trials – a federal bench trial – was then settled on favorable terms by the plaintiff after the jury announced its verdict in the first case.
    ·
  • In May/June of 2008, Mr. Doll defended five defendants in a wrongful termination/retaliation trial in Santa Clara Superior Court. The plaintiff’s final settlement demand on the eve of trial was $2.5 million, and the plaintiff sought to recover over $4.5 million in damages and attorneys’ fees at trial. After a 10-day jury trial, the jury deliberated for only three hours before returning a complete defense verdict in favor of Mr. Doll’s clients, awarding the plaintiff nothing in damages.
  • In May/June of 2009, Mr. Doll defended a former supermarket executive in a three-week white-collar criminal trial in federal court in Los Angeles, with his client facing up to 30 years in prison. After only several hours of deliberation, the jury returned a not-guilty verdict on all counts, a verdict described by the Daily Journal as “stunning.”

From 2006 to 2009, Greg Doll has been named a “Super Lawyer” by the publishers of Los Angeles magazine, earning the coveted – and, for a lawyer of his age, unprecedented – distinction of being named one of the "Top 100” Super Lawyers in Southern California, based on a polling of 28,700 lawyers in the community.

Mr. Doll has extensive expertise in trade secret and unfair competition cases, as well as matters of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, misappropriation of ideas and publicity rights and a full range of other issues affecting the media and entertainment communities. He is often hired as lead counsel in real estate litigation matters in California and other areas of the country. In recent years, he has developed expertise as an employment litigator, specifically in matters involving ERISA, wrongful termination, discrimination, and wage and hour claims. His client base ranges from professional athletes to artists/entertainers to independent producers to prominent NYSE, NASDAQ, and LSE companies. He has been retained recently as lead counsel for matters filed in Arizona, Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. He believes that his clients should be able to depend on their most trusted counsel in all litigation matters, irrespective of where such cases are filed, and it is incumbent on him to retain skilled local counsel to assist him in achieving superior and cost-effective results in any jurisdiction.

Mr. Doll received his law degree from the University of Southern California, where he served as an editor of the Law Review and was elected Order of the Coif. During law school, he served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Robert M. Takasugi in the United States District Court, Central District of California. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, graduating summa cum laude. Prior to founding Doll Amir & Eley, he practiced law at the Century City office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher (1997-2002) and the Beverly Hills firm of Browne & Woods (2002-2004). He is the author of two novels, an avid surfer, a novice triathlete, and a performing musician.
