Mary Tesh Glarum practices general business litigation, with a particular
focus on employment law. Ms. Glarum is Chairperson of the firm’s employment
law practice. She routinely advises corporate clients on a wide variety
of day-to-day employment issues. In addition, she successfully has
represented employers in numerous administrative proceedings, including
before the Department of Fair Housing and Employment, the Workers’
Compensation Appeals Board and the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement.
For example, Ms. Glarum recently obtained a verdict in favor of an
employer in a wage and hour proceeding where a former employee contended
that the employer had failed to pay overtime or provide rest and meal
breaks. She also obtained a highly favorable result on behalf of a
client that was the subject of an investigation by the United States
Department of Justice for alleged violations of the statutes governing
documentation of employment eligibility.
In addition, Ms. Glarum has obtained summary judgment numerous times
on behalf of institutional clients in cases alleging unlawful discrimination.
For example, she obtained dismissal of an Unruh Act claim brought against
a major university after filing a motion for summary judgment.
Ms. Glarum also represents clients in a wide variety of intellectual
property matters, including trademark registration, protection and
defense. She has handled numerous cases before the Trademark Trial
and Appeal Board. She also successfully represented a financial institution
sued for trademark infringement, ultimately resolving the case by
securing a seven figure payment for her client.Ms. Glarum also has
represented clients in bringing claims under the Anticybersquatting
Consumer Protection Act and has helped several clients recover domain
names under that Act.
Ms. Glarum has unique experience in cases involving allegations of misappropriation
of trade secrets and unfair competition. Recently, she obtained summary
judgment on behalf of a client sued for trademark infringement and misappropriation
of trade secrets. In another matter, she successfully defeated an application
for a temporary restraining order brought against 10 defendants under
a 19 count complaint alleging misappropriation of trade secrets and unfair
competition. Also in that case, she won several critical discovery motions,
thereby putting a stop to plaintiff’s efforts to gain access to defendants’
sensitive business information. She also has counseled clients on a variety
of issues involving corporate raiding, including how to lawfully compete
with a former employer.
Ms. Glarum also has extensive experience in employment matters. Prior
to joining Doll Amir & Eley, LLP, Ms. Glarum practiced law at the
Los Angeles offices of Latham & Watkins, LLP and at Blanc Williams
Johnston & Kronstadt (later acquired by Arnold & Porter LLP).
She is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles School
of Law. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Vassar College,
where she was elected Phi Beta Kappa.
